What a find! Stayed in Herrera del Duque a few times before but just for an overnight stay when passing thro’ so never ventured this far back into the town and hadn’t realised what a gem of a town it is - Laplaza23 is a peach of a place in a beautiful quiet secluded square - and once inside the interior is just fabulous! Beautifully and sympathetically renovated to a very high standard, spacious and cool, so so nice. The room itself was simple but had everything you would expect, crisp sheets, spotlessly clean, well appointed bathroom etc - and the cherry on the cake was the breakfast room accessed via small courtyard at the back - what must have been a store of some kind in the past with a vaulted brick ceiling renovated to a similar standard to the remainder of the establishment - and the breakfast itself was great - varied and generous, cold, or eggs cooked to your choice on request- lovely! As was the lady who looked after us during our stay! The N502 passing thro’ Herrera is a fabulous motorcycling road and there’s much more to this town than you would expect - definitely worth a stopover and the surroundings are worthy of an explore tied in to a longer stay.

Very quiet location. Hotel was clean and well equipped. Looks like it was recently refurbished.Nice courtyard out the back with flowers.Friendly reception.

The hotel and staff are great, but because of the heatwave we were not able to do a walk about so all we can say is what we saw of the village was very pretty, we will RETURN.
